These guidelines covers all aspects of community interaction and moderation on the SOKI wiki site, including comments. Our community guidelines have been adapted from other online publications (Prometheus Wiki, The Guardian, Polar Information Commons) and informed by organisations such as the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the Council of Science Editors (CSE).
The onus of responsibility within the SOKI community is on the individual. Everyone needs to take responsibility for the quality of the conversations in which they are participating.
Contributors to SOKI wiki should:
- Identify themselves by name
- Be considerate and respectful
- Be constructive (i.e. don't be evil)
- Be accurate, citing reasons and references where possible
- Respect the contributions of others - focus on the content not the contributor
Contributors to SOKI wiki should not:
- Defame
- Post statements that contain false or misleading statements
- Infringe copyright
Anything the Editorial Board considers objectionable or actionable will be removed.
In addition to these guidelines, when becoming part of the SOKI wiki community, you acknowledge the following (note these are adapted from the Polar Information Commons):
- that submitted materials are already in the public domain, or that they have clear rights to make these materials openly accessible through the wiki;
- that these contributions are accessible and searchable online;
- that, if requested, they will make reasonable efforts to provide additional information about their contributed materials, e.g., to help document the quality of their submitted materials and to ensure their long-term usability.
- that they will make reasonable efforts to provide appropriate notification to the community of any significant errors in their contributed materials or descriptions, if any are discovered after submission.
